Is SQL Server supported in a VMWare environment

I have looked all over the MS site and can find very little information regarding SQL Server's support for the VMWare environment. Based on other information that I have obtained on other forums and web-site it looks like it is not supported by Microsoft, but I would like the company line if possible.
Does any one know for sure and can point me to a URL? Thanks.
SQL Server is not supported running under VMWare.

SQL Server|||Not much resource out there for that. And MS doesn't support for that either. However SQL server running on VMWare environment. Even V-motion works great on our environment.

Sunny|||Euan,
Do you have any links to Microsoft documentation I can pass on to a project manager? I have been told that we will be using x445 with vmware to install our dev, stage, and production SQL instances on.
Thanks,

John|||We don't explitly call out VMWare but it is not listed as a supported platform in any of the docs.|||Is there an update to this thread or is this the same view Microsoft has today, 09/2006?|||

Not quite sure if this was answered. But no change. Here is the link to MS stand:

http://www.support.microsoft.com/kb/897615

It is in complete competition with their product Virtual Server 2003/2005
