Does anyone know if Microsoft is planning on fixing the HTML 4.0 rendering
for Netscape 7.1.
I hear they are removing support for Netscape 7.1.
Is it going to be fixed in the future? Maybe for SQL 2005.
It won't be a surprised if they are not planning on fixing it since it does
work in IE and this is a Microsoft product.
If anyone want to know what I am talking about try RS example "Product
Catalog" in Netscape 7.1.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.I feel your pain...I was given the task of choosing a reporting solution for
my company that will work with our supported browser (being Netscape). After
evaluating each of the most popular reporting apps, I decided Reporting
Services was the best one to go with. After creating a few reports and a
couple of ASP.net pages, I was speechless when the iframe didn't show in
Netscape. I tried everything to get it to work - dumbing down reports to
barebones, removing all parameters, adding iframe tag attributes to the
ReportViewer component, testing on other PC's with Netscape 7.1 - and still
nothing shows. I've explained to my manager that Microsoft clearly states in
thier SQL ServerT 2000 Reporting Services Deployment Guide located here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2000/deploy/rsdepgd.mspx
that report rendering in HTML 4.0 in Netscape 7.1 is supported:
Viewing Reports
The client computer used to view reports must be running a supported Web
browser...Supported browsers for HTML 4.0 include:
. Microsoft Internet Explorer for Windows versions 5.5 and 6.
. Netscape Navigator for Windows version 7.1.
However I have not been successful in getting this to work and apparently
I'm not the only one. Now I have an application that took a few weeks to
build sitting on a server doing nothing but waiting for a resolution. Can we
please have someone from Microsoft look at this problem and hopefully get
back to us developers with some sort of resolution or explanation of why
this isn't working. Thank you.

Their JS is junk, when it comes to NS rendering.
Also for example the export dosent work in IE 5.2 on Mac , even though
it is just a simple matter of adding javascript:void(OnRenderAs() to
the href of oExport , lazy stupid or ambivilent I am not sure.
As far as the Netscape issue goes its not even making it to the
window.open in RenderReportAs go figure
If someone provides me with a corrected Common.js and Toolbar.js that
work with NS I can provide a fix for you in the form of a binary
patch.
The JS are resource files in ReportingServicesWebServer
This has got me really really hacked off, MS Promises it will do
something, it gets sold under those assumptions, then it dosent work
(or even come CLOSE) to working and we developers get left holding the
bag for an over zealous sales effort.
Like I said I can provide a binary patch IF, and thats a BIG IF
someone provides me with a Working Common.js and Toolbar.js
YOu can access them via URL at
http://yourreportserver/reportserver?rs:Command=Get&rc:GetImage=8.00.878.00Toolbar.js
http://yourreportserver/reportserver?rs:Command=Get&rc:GetImage=8.00.878.00Common.js
Whats even more frustrating is there has been TOTAL silence on MS part
regarding this issue.
Someone send me a corrected Toolbar.js please
My javascript is really really poor anymore
